Obverse: The denomination Falus is expressed in elegant classical Persian Mughal calligraphy, surrounded by a finely arranged dotted circular boundary.

Reverse: Persian inscription records the Hijri date and Hyderabad mint name, presented in traditional Mughal calligraphy and enclosed within a decorative dotted boundary.

Aurangzeb Alamgir was the sixth Mughal emperor, ruling from 1658 to 1707 CE. During his long reign, the Mughal Empire reached its greatest territorial extent, with major campaigns across the Deccan against the Sultanates of Bijapur and Golconda and prolonged conflicts with the Marathas. Aurangzeb strengthened imperial administration and maintained a highly organized military system while personally overseeing many Deccan campaigns. His reign also witnessed extensive Mughal expansion into southern India, bringing important regions and former sultanates under imperial control. Hyderabad became an important Mughal mint and administrative centre during this period, producing copper, silver, and gold coinage in the emperor’s name.

The present specimen weighs 13.57 grams and has an irregular approximately 19 × 21 mm flan. Its Persian Falus inscription, Hijri date, Hyderabad mint name, and dotted borders represent the characteristic Mughal copper coinage of Aurangzeb’s Deccan period.
