Obverse: Elaborate Nizam’s Tughra bears the numeral 92, representing “Muhammad,” with the title Asaf Jah Nizam Al-Mulk Bahadur and AH date below.

Reverse: Urdu inscription “Nim Anna” appears within the central circle, surrounded by the Hyderabad mint legend and regnal-year formula.

Mir Osman Ali Khan Asaf Jah VII was the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad and ruled from 1911 to 1948. During his long reign, Hyderabad remained one of the largest and most important princely states of India, maintaining its own administration, currency, mint, railways, postal services, and other institutions. His period witnessed developments in education, irrigation, industry, infrastructure, and public administration. Osmania University was founded in 1918, becoming an important centre of higher education. Hyderabad also maintained extensive commercial activity and a distinctive monetary system under the Nizam’s government.

Coinage Note: This bronze ½ Anna was struck at the Hyderabad Mint and belongs to the circulating coinage of Mir Osman Ali Khan. The series was issued from AH 1332 to AH 1348, corresponding to 1914–1930 AD. Its elaborate Urdu calligraphy records the Nizam’s titulature, denomination, Hyderabad mint, and regnal-year formula. The ½ Anna formed part of the Hyderabad Rupee system and was used for everyday commercial transactions within the princely state.
