Nawab of Bhopal State – Shah Jahan Begum 1/2 Anna Copper Coin

Reverse: Persian inscriptions with the denomination Nim Anna (½ Anna) and Hijri date within decorative calligraphy.

Shah Jahan Begum ruled the princely state of Bhopal from AD 1868 to 1901 and was one of the most influential female rulers in Indian history. She modernized the administration, promoted education, improved infrastructure, and encouraged public welfare while maintaining Bhopal’s semi-autonomous status under British paramountcy. Her reign is remembered for efficient governance and the continuation of the state’s distinctive numismatic tradition.
