“The copper coin of Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah of Awadh is quite rare to find in the present day. This coin is very beautiful and is one of the historical coins of the Awadh state”
Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah ruled Awadh from 1837 to 1842. He was the third Nawab of Awadh, succeeding his brother, Nasir-ud-Din Haidar. His reign is noted for its focus on administrative reforms and promoting Shia Islam. He commissioned several architectural projects, including the construction of the Chota Imambara in Lucknow. Though he attempted to improve the state’s financial condition, his rule was marked by British interference, leading to increased pressure on Awadh’s sovereignty. Muhammad Ali Shah’s legacy includes his contributions to Lucknow’s cultural and architectural heritage.
