This copper takka was issued by the princely state of Bundi during the reign of Rao Raja Bishen Singh (1806–1821 CE), but in the name of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II to affirm Bundi’s political legitimacy under the waning Mughal authority. The coin reflects the transitional period when regional rulers maintained nominal allegiance to Delhi while exercising practical independence. Bundi, located in present-day Rajasthan, continued its traditional copper coinage with distinctive local fabric and bold calligraphy. The obverse bears the formula sikka mubarak badshah ghazi shah alam II, underscoring imperial sanction, while the reverse records maimanat manus, the 23 regnal year, and zarb Bundi.
