Tirumalaraya was a ruler of the Aravidu Dynasty, the fourth and final dynasty of the Vijayanagar Empire, which rose after the Battle of Talikota (1565 AD) shattered the previous Tuluva Dynasty. He was the younger brother of the famous Rama Raya and ruled from 1565 to 1572 CE. Tirumalaraya tried to restore the empire from Penukonda, making it his new capital. Despite challenges from Deccan Sultanates and internal rebellions, he worked to keep the empire intact. Coins from his reign, like this one with a dagger and Nagari legend, reflect his royal authority and are considered scarce and historically significant.
