This copper Falus belongs to a long and important monetary series from late medieval Central India, representing progressively debased billon and copper tankas, falus, and their fractions. Typologically, these issues show clear continuity with the coinage of the late Delhi Sultans, particularly the Sayyad and Lodi dynasties, reflecting the lingering monetary influence of Delhi in regional polities. The legends are extremely crude and often illegible; however, in some examples faint traces of recognizable words appear. Certain elements are thought to correspond with names or terms found in the genealogical tradition of the Tomars of Gwalior, leading scholars to tentatively attribute this series to the Tomar rulers. These coins are historically significant as transitional issues, illustrating both political assertion by regional powers and the gradual decline in minting standards during the period.
