This silver rupee was issued during the reign of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan from the Ahmedabad mint in 1040 AH / 1631 AD. Weighing 11.37 grams and measuring 21.01 mm, the coin features the Kalima with the mint name and regnal year on the reverse, while the obverse bears the emperor’s full title including Sahib-e-Qiran Sani. Shah Jahan ruled the Mughal Empire from 1628 to 1658 AD, a total of 30 years, and issued coins in silver, gold, and copper from numerous mints across India. His coinage reflects the grandeur and authority of his rule, marked by elegant Persian inscriptions.
