This coin was issued by the Princely State of Sailana, a small Malwa Agency principality during the British Raj with an area of about 769 km². The ruler Dule Singh (reign around mid-19th century) was known as a pious leader, remembered for his devotion and local influence, including support for the Bhil community. He once declined to attend the 1877 Delhi Durbar to bow before the British, illustrating his principled stance. Sailana acceded to the Indian Union on 15 June 1948.
