The Gurjara-Pratihara Empire was one of the most powerful dynasties of early medieval northern India. Between the 8th and 10th centuries CE, the Pratiharas controlled large territories across northern and western India and were major rivals of the Pala Empire in Bengal and the Rashtrakutas in the Deccan. Their influence over important trade routes and cities helped them establish strong political and economic authority during this period.
