Nawab of Bengal, Patna (Azimabad عظیم آباد) Silver, One rupee, in the name of Alamgir II, mint off flan, attributed to Azimabad mint by style,  AH 1170/Ry 4 (1757 AD)
This coin had been issued during the time of Bengal Nawab Siraj-ud-Doulah as the period of RY 3 of Alamgir II was from 05/1756(08/1169) to 04/1757(08/1170). And the reign period of last independent Bengal Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula was 04/1756(07/1169) to 23/06/1757(05/10/1170). So the RY/date combination comes under the ruling period of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah.
Mirza Muhammad Siraj ud-Daulah (born.1733 – death 2 July 1757) was the last independent Nawab of Bengal, reigning from 1756 to 1757. The end of his reign marked the beginning of the rule of the East India Company over Bengal and later almost all of the Indian subcontinent.
Siraj ascended to the masnad on 9 April 1756, following the death of his maternal grandfather, Alivardi Khan, at the age of 23. Betrayed by Mir Jafar, the commander of Nawab’s army, Siraj lost the Battle of Plassey on 23 June 1757. The forces of the East India Company under Robert Clive invaded and the administration of Bengal fell into the hands of the company. Siraj-ud-Daulah attempted to escape, but Mir Jafar seized him and brought him to his residence. Siraj was executed on 2 July 1757.
Battle of Plassey
The Battle of Plassey was fought in north-eastern India on 23 June 1757. Troops of the British East India Company, led by Robert Clive, came up against the forces of Siraj-ud-Daulah, the last Nawab of Bengal, and his French allies. Clive’s victory eventually led to the British becoming the greatest economic and military power in India.
