Muhammad bin Tughluq, one of the most intellectually ambitious sultans of the Delhi Sultanate, ruled from 1325 to 1351 CE. His reign is marked by extensive monetary experiments, administrative innovations, and a dynamic—sometimes turbulent—economic environment. The 6 Gani denomination, struck in billon, formed part of his broader attempt to standardize and diversify the currency structure for smoother imperial transactions.
The inscriptions reflect the Sultan’s characteristic blend of spiritual invocation and formal date expression. Despite mass circulation, surviving examples in better grade remain scarce due to the fragile billon fabric and irregular flan quality typical of Tughluq-era coinage.
