Sri Chahada Deva was a ruler of the Chauhan (Chahaman) dynasty of Ajmer and Delhi during the late 12th century CE, ruling approximately 1172–1191 CE, a politically crucial phase just before the Ghurid invasions. He belonged to the extended Chauhan lineage that also produced Prithviraj Chauhan, and his reign reflects the decentralised but resilient structure of Chauhan power. The bull-and-horseman jital type issued from the Delhi mint represents continuity of an established north Indian monetary tradition, symbolising Shaiva affiliation (bull/Nandi) and royal authority (horseman). The Nagari legends naming Sri Samanta Deva and Sri Chahada Deva confirm dynastic legitimacy and sovereignty. Such coins circulated widely in north India and are important evidence for Chauhan political control, administrative continuity, and monetary stability in the pre-Turkic conquest period.
