Ala-ud-Din Ahmad Shah II (1435–1457 CE), the ninth ruler of the Bahmani Sultanate, presided over a period of relative stability and administrative consolidation in the Deccan. He strengthened the central authority, encouraged trade across the Karnataka and Telangana regions, and maintained diplomatic ties with neighboring Vijayanagara. His reign is also noted for cultural growth, as Persian literary traditions and Deccani architecture continued to flourish under Bahmani patronage. Although internal factionalism between the Deccani and Afaqi nobles persisted, Ahmad Shah II managed to keep the sultanate unified and economically active.
This 1/2 Gani copper coin reflects his sovereignty, bearing titles praising divine support and military success on the obverse, and his full lineage—”Ahmad Shah bin Ahmad Shah Bahman Shah”—on the reverse.
