Jalal ud-Din Muhammad Akbar, the third Mughal emperor (r. 1556–1605), issued copper dams as part of his extensive monetary reforms. These coins featured elegant Persian inscriptions and were struck in multiple mints across the empire. Akbar standardized coinage to strengthen trade, administration, and imperial authority throughout Mughal India.
