Pramatta Singha was a ruler of the Ahom Kingdom of Assam, a powerful Tai-origin monarchy that governed the Brahmaputra valley for nearly six centuries. The Ahom state was known for strong administration, land control through the paik system, and resistance to external domination.

Under Pramatta Simha, Ahom authority extended across Upper and Lower Assam, including key regions along the Brahmaputra River, controlling trade routes, agriculture, and temple estates. His reign followed a turbulent era but remained comparatively stable, focusing on internal consolidation rather than large-scale expansion.

Militarily, the Ahoms had earlier fought repeated wars against the Mughal Empire, and although no major Mughal invasion occurred during his rule, Pramatta Simha maintained defenses against regional chiefs and frontier pressures. He is remembered as a firm, orthodox, and religious ruler.

Ahom coinage under Pramatta Simha reflects this ideology. His silver 1/2 Rupee bears strong Shaivite symbolism—Siva Pada on the obverse—and royal titles on the reverse, emphasizing divine legitimacy, sovereignty, and the sacred nature of kingship in the Ahom state.
