He began collecting and studying coins and antique currency from a very young age, and over the past 25+ years, he has cultivated deep expertise—especially in the realm of Medieval Indian Sultanate coinage. His command over classical Arabic, Persian, and Urdu enables him to accurately decipher intricate inscriptions found on ancient and rare coins, which significantly enhances his research and authentication work. Beyond the Sultanate era, his numismatic interests span British India, modern Indian coinage, and international currencies. His passion for learning continues to drive him, making his knowledge ever-expanding and evolving with time.
Affiliations and Public Outreach
Shahbaz Alam is a life-time member of the Rashtriya Mudra Parishad, one of India’s most renowned numismatic organizations. Additionally, he is associated with several other numismatic societies and has even established his own numismatic groups to promote awareness and research.
He is also the creator of a YouTube channel named “Shahbaz Alam Iraqui”, which has nearly 40,000 followers. Through this platform, he shares his knowledge, insights, and research, educating and inspiring a wider audience about the art and science of numismatics.
