Sultan Abdülaziz was the 32nd Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, ruling from 1861 to 1876 CE. He succeeded his brother Abdülmecid I during a period of major administrative and military reforms. His reign continued the Tanzimat modernization program, including developments in railways, education, communications, and the Ottoman navy. Abdülaziz was particularly associated with strengthening the imperial fleet and undertook diplomatic visits to Europe, including Britain and France in 1867. His reign also witnessed financial difficulties, political tensions, and growing nationalist movements within the empire. He was deposed in 1876 after fifteen years on the Ottoman throne.

Coinage Note: This 10 Para copper coin was struck at the Constantinople Mint in AH 1277 (1864 CE), during Abdülaziz’s 4th regnal year. The denomination formed part of the Ottoman Lira currency system and circulated for everyday transactions. Its elegant Tughra, Arabic calligraphy, central denomination, and dated mint inscription represent the standardized Ottoman coinage of the 19th century.
