Qutb al-Din Mubarak Shah, son of Alauddin Khalji, ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1316 to 1320 CE during a period of political transition following his father’s powerful reign. His rule marked a relaxation of several strict administrative and economic measures introduced by Alauddin Khalji, while the established Khalji monetary system continued to serve the Sultanate. His billon Gani coinage features bold Arabic calligraphy, royal titles and clearly expressed dates, providing an important record of his short reign and the monetary traditions of the Delhi Sultanate.
