The Kingdom of Travancore was a prominent princely state located in the southern part of present-day Kerala, known for its stable administration and distinctive regional coinage. During the reign of Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma VI (1885–1924 CE), the state issued several small copper denominations to facilitate everyday commerce within the kingdom.

The 1 Cash coin formed part of the traditional Travancore monetary system and was widely used in local markets for minor transactions. These coins typically feature the conch shell, a sacred Vaishnavite symbol and royal emblem of Travancore, while the reverse bears inscriptions in Malayalam script indicating the denomination. Struck in small copper planchets, these coins represent the late phase of coinage issued by the Travancore princely state before modern monetary reforms under British India and later integration into independent India.
