Zain al-Abidin, remembered as Budshah (the Great King), was the most enlightened ruler of the Kashmir Sultanate. Reigning from AH 823–874 (AD 1420–1470), he transformed Kashmir into a center of culture, learning, and economic stability. He promoted religious tolerance, abolished harsh taxes, and encouraged the return of scholars and artisans who had earlier fled the region. Under his rule, Persian culture, calligraphy, crafts, and architecture flourished.

Struck at the Kashmir mint, it carries clear Arabic and Persian inscriptions naming the ruler and mint. Such copper issues circulated widely in local markets, though surviving specimens today are relatively scarce due to heavy circulation and metal deterioration..
