Muthu Virappa Nayaka ruled Madurai from 1609 to 1623 CE under the Vijayanagara suzerainty. He issued distinctive copper coins featuring Hindu iconography. This 1 Kasu coin shows Shiva-Parvathi seated with sun-moon above, symbolizing divine unity. The reverse bears “Sri Vee Ra” in Telugu script, reflecting Nayaka patronage of religion and culture.
