Zain-ul-Abidin, popularly remembered as Budshah, was the most enlightened ruler of the Kashmir Sultanate. Reigning from AH 823–874 (AD 1420–1470), he is celebrated for restoring peace after years of conflict and for promoting religious tolerance, learning, and craftsmanship. He invited scholars, artists, and craftsmen from Persia and Central Asia, helping Kashmir emerge as a major cultural centre.

This copper Kaserah reflects the stable administrative system of his reign. Struck at the Kashmir mint, the coin carries clear Persian inscriptions and the distinctive central line and knot, a common decorative and symbolic element of Kashmiri coinage. Such copper issues were used in daily transactions, supporting local trade. Well-struck examples like this are very scarce, making them historically and numismatically significant.
