Vasishthiputra Sri Pulumavi was one of the most prominent rulers of the Satavahana Empire, governing roughly between the late 1st and early 2nd century CE. As the son and successor of the powerful Gautamiputra Satakarni, he consolidated Satavahana authority across the Deccan after decades of conflict with the Western Kshatrapas. His reign is marked by renewed maritime activity, flourishing inland trade, and extensive coinage that reflects stable economic administration. Potin issues such as this 1 Karshapana/Drachm, featuring the elephant motif and the Brahmi legend Siri Pudumavisa, continued the imperial iconographic tradition established by his predecessors. The reverse Ujjain symbol underscores the dynasty’s cultural identity and long-standing links with central Indian trade networks.
