Sultan Jalal al-Din Mangubarni, the last great ruler of the Khwarazmian dynasty (1220–1231 CE), is remembered for his extraordinary resistance against the Mongol Empire after the fall of his father’s kingdom. Forced to flee Central Asia, he rebuilt his power in Persia and the Indian frontier. This billon jital, showing a bull on the obverse with the Nagari inscription “sa jalaladina” and a horseman on the reverse with “sri hamirah,” reflects his continued authority in regions influenced by Indian monetary traditions. Minted during years of constant warfare and migration, the coin represents a ruler who refused surrender, fought brilliant battles, and maintained his sovereignty despite overwhelming Mongol pressure, making his issues scarce and historically valuable.
