Jalal-ud-din Firuz Shah Khalji (r. 1290–1296) was the founder of the Khalji dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. He was an experienced military leader and came to power at the age of 70, following the end of the Slave Dynasty. Known for his mild and just rule, he tried to avoid unnecessary wars and maintained peace in his kingdom. Despite opposition from Turkish nobles, he strengthened the Khalji power base.

Coinage: He issued copper coins called “Paika”, often bearing Islamic inscriptions and his name. These coins reflected the beginning of Khalji monetary reforms and the continuation of Indo-Islamic coin traditions.
